چکیده

Residential customers use more than one-quarter of the electricity in world. Optimally managing home energy consumption is an effective way easing operational challenges facing electric grid with increasing solar photovoltaics (PV). This paper studies impact future proliferation management systems (HEMS) presence PV on large-scale distribution systems. First, we present a stochastic HEMS model that minimizes residential customers’ thermal discomfort and costs under uncertainty. The schedules optimal operations appliances within mixed-integer linear programming-based predictive control framework links proposed to quasi-steady-state time-series simulation tool. Extensive simulations are conducted for stand-alone using two tariff structures 1977 homes 8,500-node feeder. Simulation results quantify system PV.

Nonlinear Predictive Energy Management of Residential Buildings with Photovoltaics & Batteries

This paper studies a nonlinear predictive energy management strategy for a residential building with a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system and second-life lithium-ion battery energy storage. A key novelty of this manuscript is closing the gap between building energy management formulations, advanced load forecasting techniques, and nonlinear battery/PV models. Additionally, we focus on the fundame...

Quadratic Programming in Model Predictive Control for Large Scale Systems

Model Predictive Control(MPC) is widely used, especially in the chemical process industry. Model Predictive Controllers calculate the optimal control inputs at each time step, based on past information, a plant model, a quadratic objective and given constraints. Typically this involves solving a large linearly constrained quadratic program(LCQP) at each time step. Standard methods turn out to b...

Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for Large Scale Systems

In the past decade the field of nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) has witnessed steadily increasing attention from control practitioners. Its popularity comes from the fact that today’s processes need to be operated under much tighter performance specifications while at the same time more and more constraints, stemming for example from environmental and safety considerations, need to be...

Model predictive control of large scale processes

Model predictive control is a receding horizon control policy in which a linear or quadratic program with linear constraints is solved on-line at each sampling instance. An algorithm is developed that allows quick computation of suboptimal control moves. The linear constraint set is approximated by an ellipsoid and a change of variables is performed so that a solution may be computed eciently ...

Model Predictive Control of Distributed Energy Resources with Predictive Set-Points for Grid-Connected Operation

This paper proposes an MPC - based (model predictive control) scheme to control active and reactive powers of DERs (distributed energy resources) in a grid - connected mode (either through a bus with its associated loads as a PCC (point of common coupling) or an MG (micro - grid)). DER may be a DG (distributed generation) or an ESS (energy storage system). In the proposed scheme, the set - poin...
